Acoustics
The acoustic wave equation is used in a lot of applications, amongst others it allows to predict room acoustics for construction projects or to optimize urban planning and city design in terms of noise. Countless numerical tools exist to solve the acoustic wave equation and each is associated with specific advantages and disadvantages. At this institute, an efficient discontinuous Galerkin solver with explicit time integration was developed, which allows to solve the acoustic wave equation on arbitrary two and three dimensional domains.
