The Technical University Munich and the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research (ZIWR) of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev have the chance to work together in the field of water research. This is made possible by the Young Scientist Exchange Program (YSEP) which is sponsored by BMBF and MOST. Starting in March 2019 our Ph.D. student, Andreas Kastl, will visit the ZIWR for a period of six months.
The goal of the conducted project is to experimentally investigate the deposition of inert particles and bacteria in forward osmosis. It is planned to analyze the effect of different spacer geometries, flow velocities and permeate fluxes. These investigations are to be conducted in-situ. Laser-induced fluorescence can be used to analyze low deposition volumes. Optical coherence tomography is available to examine dense deposition patterns. The ZIWR will provide the experimental resources.
