Prof. Maria Heckl joins tfd group as visiting professor
01.08.2024
After a 42-year academic career in the UK, Maria joined the Thermofluiddynamics Group at TUM with effect from 1 August 2024 as a Visiting Professor. Maria's research is in physical acoustics. She specialises in the interaction of sound waves with flames, and also with vortices, jets and vibrating structures. Maria has a large international network of collaborators from academia and industry. She has led two major European research consortia, POLKA and TANGO in order to underpin the development of novel combustion technologies, in particular H2 combustion. Here at TUM, she is preparing a proposal for an EU-funded Doctoral Network with the vision to design carbon-neutral combustion systems by applying nature-inspired engineering solutions in order to control thermoacoustic instabilities.
