Current Projects
The group's research focuses on thermoacoustic combustion instabilities. These impair the security and reliability of both burners for households or industrial use and gas turbines and rocket motors. In order to analyse and control such instabilities, fluid mechanics, acoustic and combustion methods are combined in an interdisciplinary approach with system indentification and control theory methods.
As a complement to the work on thermoacoustics, other projects investigate aero-acoustic sources of noise (in multi-phase flow) and unsteady skin friction and heat transfer in pulsating flow.
