We offer you the opportunity to make the next step in your scientific career as a member of a highly motivated team in a well-equipped environment. Our working atmosphere is characterized by lively exchange, intensive supervision, and manifold international contacts.
From our research assistants, we expect
- interest in our research and methods,
- a high motivation and the skills to make an internationally visibly contribution to these topics,
- sound knowledge of the fundamentals of engineering sciences, in particular of thermdynamics and fluidmechanics, as well as excellent skills in modeling and simulation,
- an excellent university degree in engineering (in particular mechanical engineering, energy and process engineering, or aerospace engineering) or in applied maths or physics,
- willingness to contribute to our teaching activities.
Did we spark your interest? Then apply for a Ph.D. or a Post Doc position new, even if there is no open position posted at the moment. Please send your complete and expressive applications documents to polifke(at)tfd.mw.tum.de.
The research at the Chair of Thermofluid Dynamics focuses on thermoacoustic combustion instabilities. These instabilities affect the safety and reliability of aircraft engines, rocket motors, gas turbines for power generation, and industrial combustion processes. The introduction of hydrogen or ammonia as CO₂-neutral energy carriers poses numerous technological challenges, particularly when emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) or noise must also be reduced.
To analyze and control thermoacoustic instabilities, we combine fluid mechanics, acoustics, and combustion with methods from control engineering, nonlinear dynamics, and data-driven modeling (machine learning). We maintain close collaborations with research institutions and industry partners both within and outside Europe.
As part of a BMWK-funded research project on climate-neutral aviation propulsion technologies (LuVI Klima VII-1), we have an open doctoral researcher position (m/f/d).
