We are delighted to announce that students from various German universities and universities of applied sciences (RWTH Aachen, Hochschule für Musik Detmold, Hochschule Mittweida, and TU München) have developed four new acoustic simulation apps as part of a one-year cooperation project under the guidance of the junge DEGA. The project was funded by the German Society for Acoustics (DEGA) and supported by the DEGA Teaching Committee. Using the Multiphysics Software COMSOL, intuitive applications were created to help students and pupils understand and visualize the complex phenomena of acoustics.
The following apps were developed as part of the project:
- Comb Filter
- Head-Related Transfer Function
- Schroeder and Meta Surface
- Sound Screen
The developed apps cover areas such as vibroacoustics, hearing acoustics, and musical acoustics, allowing users to adjust boundary conditions and geometries according to their own preferences, enabling interactive analysis of the acoustic problems.
The authors welcome any suggestions and feedback at apps.vib(at)ed.tum.de and are open to new collaborations and applications of the apps in new fields of study.
