Every type of research requires language and metaphysical assumptions, while the Philosophy of Nature examines the relationships between human consciousness and the world outside of it. All of these appear in Monika Gatt’s research, which focuses on Ethics, on Phenomenology, the Philosophy of Nature and the philosophical basis of Acoustics.
Monika Gatt studied Logics and Philosophy of Science at Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich, and then Philosophy at the Jesuit School of Philosophy in Munich, which awarded her a doctoral degree in 2009. She has been teaching Philosophy at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich since 2010. She also taught Philosophy from 2011 to 2014 at Helmut-Schmidt-University in Hamburg. Since 2015, she teaches at the Chair of Vibroacoustics of Vehicles and Machines. She is an Erasmus+ scholarship holder at Saint Petersburg State University, Russia, in 2018 and 2020. During the winter semester 2020/2021, she also teaches "Ethics in AI" at the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt.
Further, Monika Gatt is a co-founder of the working group "Akuphil", in which philosophic and ethic questions in the field of acoustics are discussed and is an author of Springer Nature.
Ms. Gatt has been a habilitation candidate at the TUM School of Engineering and Design since February 2023, and in January 2024 she was appointed as a liaison lecturer for the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom .
