Identification and modelling of damping in lightweight structures
Lightweight structures are used in many industries and sectors. Especially the automotive and aerospace industry benefit from the low material input and the resulting energy savings in the operational phase. In addition to the above-mentioned potentials, lightweight structures offer the possibility of specifically combining high damping of vibrations with low material usage. For this purpose, the so-called sandwich structures are used. The sandwich structures usually consist of force-absorbing cover layers and softer core layers made of a honeycomb structure or polymers. The focus of the study is the physical modelling of the damping, the parameter identification through experimental analysis and the implementation in simulation models.
