Dr.-Ing. Christoph Meier has been appointed Associate Professor of Simulation for Additive Manufacturing at the Technical University of Munich. Christoph completed his Ph.D. at the Institute for Computational Mechanics in 2016, focusing on geometrically exact beam formulations and contact interaction. After working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he returned to our group as a lecturer and, since 2024, as Principal Investigator and Group Leader of an ERC starting grant project in accelerated additive manufacturing.
In his new position, he will lead research initiatives centered on the simulation-based exploration of novel process technologies in additive manufacturing. The aim is to enhance this field through innovative computational modeling approaches. We congratulate Christoph on this significant achievement and wish him continued success in his academic career.
