Dr.-Ing. Martin R. Pfaller was appointed tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Yale University in July 2024. Martin finished his doctorate here at the Institute for Computational Mechanics (LNM) in 2019 on “Predictive Computational Modeling of Patient-Specific Cardiac Mechanics.” At LNM, he also served as the head teaching assistant of Engineering Mechanics, winning two teaching awards. He completed his Postdoc at Stanford University in Pediatric Cardiology, where he was supported by a five-year Pathway to Independence Award from the National Institutes of Health. At Yale, he is now leading the Computational Biomechanics Laboratory, which will develop personalized computational models to predict the consequences of heart tissue injury.
